In a unique season like this one, every organization in the world is re-thinking “normal.” Unable to do “business as usual,” leaders in every industry have found themselves asking, “What’s next?”
Connect Camps is no different.
In mid-March, when more and more organizations were unable to meet together in person, and when in-person customer interaction came to a screeching halt, Connect Camps began to re-think how we can accomplish our mission, even in the midst of our current struggle.
At Connect Camps, we’ve boiled our mission statement down to this core statement: “Connect Camps creates remarkable experiences that help churches meet new people.” At our roots, that’s who we are and what we do. Each summer, we partner with local churches to host Connect Camps in dozens of cities, nation-wide. Campers across the country experience a one-week day camp full of fun activities, Bible-based teaching, and small group Bible study, in their own community.
As this summer began creeping closer and closer, and as social distancing recommendations became more and more strict, we asked ourselves the question: “How can we help churches meet new people in their communities during a season when we can’t even be in the same room as them?”
That’s when our team had an idea. If we’re unable to bring campers to Connect Camps, what if we brought Connect Camps to our campers? What if we could bring an entire week of camp fun to the doorsteps of homes across America?
Camp in a Box is exactly what it sounds like: an entire week of non-stop camp fun and Bible-based teaching loaded into a box. Each box is filled with all inventory needed for campers to participate in engaging activities, ranging from crafts to science experiments. Each box also comes with access to online digital content: Skill instructional videos, Bible-based teaching, worship dance videos, outdoor rec challenge videos, and more.
We know that every parent wants to keep their children safe this summer, and the reality is that some parents may not feel comfortable sending their child off to camp. Our hope is that Camp in a Box is a way for parents to give their children the best summer ever from the comfort of their own home. We also hope that every family participating in Camp in a Box will have an opportunity to connect with a local church in their area.
